Owlypia – The Intellectuals' Challenge

What is Owlypia?
Owlypia is an international knowledge competition for students, founded in 2017 by Perceptum Education, a certified social enterprise based in London, UK. Its aim is to spark intellectual curiosity in every young mind, with a central theme each year.
Students choose one favourite subject from five: Social Sciences, Art & Design, Literature & Culture, Science & Technology and Economics & Business. Films, videos, books and articles are recommended for each subject, along with thought-provoking questions that guide their research.
Owlypia received the Global Inclusion Award 2024 from IFIP in partnership with UNESCO.

Brief Summary
The online test is taken on a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop with internet access. All questions come from the student’s chosen subject, and both questions and answer options appear in random order. Competitions start at 2:00 PM PKT, and students should have their device and connection ready at least 10 minutes early.
Important Guidelines
- By entering Owlypia, students accept its rules. The contest’s decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
- A good internet connection is required. Having 3G/4G on your device as a backup is recommended.
- Each participant receives an individual login link by email, and supervisors receive access links too.
- Candidates are responsible for their own device, power and internet.
- If a candidate cannot finish in time, the answers completed so far are submitted for evaluation.
- Questions may not be copied, shared or passed on in any form, online or offline.
Code of Conduct
- Answer every question without help from anyone or anything.
- No outside help from books, online sources, phones or parents.
- No electronic or printed dictionaries, and no study material in the test.
- Close all other programs and apps. No other browsers or windows may be opened during the test.
- The system tracks browser activity and attempts to copy or cheat. Anyone caught cheating is disqualified immediately.
Instructions for the Contestants
- 90 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, starting when you click the start button.
- Questions cannot be skipped, and answered questions cannot be revisited.
- Do not use the browser’s Back button. Use “Next question” to submit and move on.
- If you lose connection, refresh the page to resume where you left off.
- Wrong answers carry no penalty.
- The remaining time is shown as a bar in the upper-right corner.

Owlypia has two kinds of round:
- Owlypia Online: several online rounds are held through the year, plus a Summer Online Round.
- Owlypia Globals: an onsite event for teams of three, which can include friends from anywhere. Teams complete five challenges: Knowledge, Pen Down, Speech-Craft, Impromptu and Team Spirit.
To qualify for the Globals, a student needs a medal in an Online Round.

Full results are available on the evening the contest ends. Every participant receives an E-Certificate of Achievement and a Report Card with individual scores.
