Remote research is like being a mad scientist, but instead of a secret lab, you’re hunched over your laptop in your secret pajama hideout. It’s like exploring the Amazon jungle, but you’re exploring the depths of Wikipedia, and instead of dodging snakes, you’re dodging distractions like cat videos.
So, put on your thinking cap (or a silly hat if you prefer), and let’s embark on a quest for wisdom in the digital wilderness!

If you are a teenage student (ages 14-19) or a recent high school graduate, the International Research Institute of North Carolina (IRI-NC) offers research programs that could be a great opportunity for you. Fluency in English, both speaking and writing, is required as all the work at IRI-NC happens in English.
The institute accepts applicants without a minimum GPA or required experience/coursework, so all interested individuals will be considered. Having coursework in biology and/or higher math/statistics could make it easier for you to understand the research literature.
If you are interested in medicine or health-related careers, such as clinical care fields or biomedical engineering, IRI-NC will be particularly relevant and exciting for you!
