Quill and Scroll Editorial Contest Winners: Honoring the Best in Student Journalism Quill and Scroll International Honorary Society for High School Journalists in collaboration with Academic Quests is pleased to announce the winners of its prestigious Editorial Contest 2024. After thoughtful deliberation and thorough examination, judges of the Honorary Society selected the top entries from a talented pool of students. These exceptional writers have demonstrated outstanding skill, creativity, and dedication to the craft of editorial writing. The editorial topic for this year was “With the recent explosion of Artificial Intelligence technology, teens need to further validate the information they receive on social media platforms for their news. What steps should teens take to ensure what they see is real? How can they counter fabricated news and disinformation in both their feeds and in talking with peers?” The students who secured top positions gave compelling arguments, strong evidence and effective recommendations. Students in both the class categories wrote exceptional essays. In Class A (grade 9 – 10) category the winners were: Muhammad Faisal Imran, 1st position, Sahibzada Muhammad Ali, 2nd position, both students are from Learning Alliance Aziz Avenue and Hassan Raza, 3rd position, is from Learning Alliance DHA. Syeda Hadiya from Learning Alliance DHA was awarded Honorable mention. In Class B (grade 11 – 12) category the winners were: Zaina Aslam from Learning Alliance International, secured 1st position, Wareesha Sial from First Steps School of Arts and Sciences, got 2nd position and Aiza Merchant from Learning Alliance International secured 3rd position. While Hooriyah Ahmad from Learning Alliance International was given Honorable Mention. The Quill and Scroll International Honorary Society for High School Journalists was started on April 10, 1926, at the University of Iowa by renowned pollster George H. Gallup. The Honorary Society initiated the Quill & Scroll Editorial Contest that focuses on journalistic and scholastic publications. This competition fosters research, reading, writing and analytical skills. The contest is judged by professional American journalists. Top ranking students are eligible for scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,500. Academic Quests is proud to partner with Quill and Scroll International Honorary Society for High School Journalists in order to bring the international contests to Pakistan to help develop critical and creative thinking of the students. Academic Quests offers students transformative educational experiences through collaborations with top universities like Harvard and Oxford, as well as international contests with globally ranked organizations.
